How Did Michelangelo Influence the World?

Michelangelo influenced the world through his art, which exhibited his knowledge of architecture, painting, sculpting and engineering. Widely hailed as the greatest artist of the Italian Renaissance, he also influenced the world through poetry.

Michelangelo’s most famous statues are Pieta and David, which attract a number of visitors annually. The Pieta depicts Jesus being held in the arms of his mother, Mary. According to scholars, the statue of David of the Bible is almost technically perfect. His work in the Sistine Chapel is well known because of its nine images taken from the Bible’s Book of Genesis, the most famous depicting God’s finger almost touching Adam’s. His use of the human form in the Chapel’s paintings has influenced artists for centuries.
