Why Did Giada DeLaurentis Get a Divorce?
Irreconcilable differences is the official reason cited on divorce papers filed by Giada De Laurentiis and husband Todd Thompson. While media reports have alleged that specific factors were behind the decision, neither De Laurentiis nor Thompson has confirmed any particular reasons for ending their 11-year marriage.
The celebrity chef publicly confirmed her impending divorce on her own Facebook page in December of 2014, saying that the couple had decided to divorce “after an amicable separation” of nearly five months. Although rumors involving infidelity have circulated in the media, De Laurentiis has publicly stated that they are untrue. The most widely circulated were statements that she had affairs with Today Show host Matt Lauer and musician John Mayer. Lauer and Mayer have also denied the allegations.
De Laurentiis is a celebrity chef, TV personality and author. She is best known for her work as the host of Everyday Italian on the Food Network and as a popular ongoing Today Show contributor. She and Thompson, a fashion designer, were married in 2003 and have a 6-year-old daughter together as of 2015. According to Laurentiis, the two plan to continue raising her together and has said that there are no hard feelings between her and Thompson.
