How Do You Determine the Value of Desert Rose Dishes?
To determine the value of Franciscan Desert Rose dishes, first find out the year that the dishes were produced and the country of origin. Older dishes from this line are generally considered more valuable.
Desert Rose plates began being produced in 1941 under the Franciscan brand name. Desert Rose refers to the pink floral pattern that is handpainted along the edges of the plates. The plates were produced in the United States from 1941 to 1985, after which production was moved to England. Thus, plates made in the United States are more valuable than those made in England. The decorator’s stamp on the bottom of the plate indicates its origin. After 2003, production of the plates was moved to China. Plates made after 2003 are not handpainted and are not valuable.
