Last Updated Mar 28, 2020 11:21:16 AM ET

A narrative paragraph tells the story of an event, providing the relevant details of when and where the event occurred as well as who was included and what transpired. The paragraph describes either an actual event or a fictional one that the writer creates.
Narrative paragraphs usually flow in chronological order, taking the reader from the beginning of the event to the end. Transitional words, such as "later" or "then," give the reader a clue about how the events progressed. Narrative paragraphs usually communicate some sort of moral or ideal so that readers come away feeling that they have learned a lesson.
