How Do You View Your DD-214 Online?

To request a DD Form 214 online, go to the National Archives website and select Veterans Service Records, then click on Request DD 214/Separation Document Online. Select Submit Your Request Online with eVetRecs at the next page and follow the onscreen instructions, entering basic personal and service information to proceed with the request. It is necessary to submit a handwritten signature, either by mail or fax, to complete the application, advises Archives.gov.

To request a DD Form 214 online, follow the steps below.

  1. Go to the Veterans Military Service Records page
  2. Go to the National Archives website at Archives.gov and select Veterans Service Records from the top bar menu. At the next page, select Request DD 214/Separation Document Online.

  3. Submit a request
  4. At the next page, click on the link labeled Submit Your Request Online with eVetRecs to open a new request. Follow the on-screen instructions. The required information includes the veteran’s name and service number, social security number, branch of service, dates of service and date and place of birth, according to Archives.gov. Additional information, such as place of discharge and last unit of assignment, may be required.

  5. Submit a handwritten signature
  6. Submit a handwritten signature by mail or fax as directed to authorize and complete the request.
