Who Makes Crosley Appliances?
Crosley appliances are made by various companies to the specifications of the Crosley Corporation, including Fedders, LG and Maytag. Crosley is a non-profit network of independent distributors, and appliances offered include stoves, air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers and dishwashers.
The appliances are marketed under the brand names Shelvador and Conservator. As of 2014, Crosley appliances are not sold in stores, and are only available through a network of 3,000 independent distributors. The Crosley brand name went out of existence in 1956, until it was revitalized by the new Crosley Corporation beginning in 1976. Powel Crosley, Jr., an American inventor and businessman, first began selling Crosley appliances in 1930. He also manufactured cars and consumer products, including radios, until his company went out of business in the 1950s due to lack of profit.
