What Is the Credential Storage of a Phone?
Last Updated Mar 26, 2020 1:38:38 AM ET
Credential storage is used on phones, computers and tablets to store certificates that allow access to certain websites or secure services such as virtual private networks or Secure Sockets Layer connections. The credential storage is secured by the credential storage password, which is needed in order to access these stored certificates.
If the user needs to connect to a Wi-Fi network that requires a certificate or Microsoft Exchange-based email server, these certificates also need to be stored in the credential storage in order for the phone and its applications to access the servers. Once the credential storage password has been set up, it can store certificates copied from a memory card or downloaded on the phone itself.
