In What Country Are Jordan Shoes Made?

Air Jordan shoes are manufactured by Nike primarily in China. As of 2014, one of the primary manufacturing facilities for Air Jordans is the Yue Yuen factory in Dongguan, China, which is owned by the Pou Chen Group, a Taiwanese company that is the primary supplier in China for Nike.

Air Jordans are the product of a licensing agreement between Nike and former NBA star Michael Jordan. Nike approached Jordan around the time he was drafted by the Bulls and offered a five-year partnership. Jordan debuted the new shoes his rookie year, 1984, wearing a red and black pair that didn’t meet NBA guidelines for shoes at the time. As a part of a marketing stunt, Nike paid the $5,000 fines Jordan incurred for each game that he wore the unregulated shoes.
