Is Country Crock Butter or Margarine?

Shedd’s Country Crock, a product of Unilever USA, is a margarine spread made with a vegetable oil blend, water, milk and other additives. The company does offer one product that includes real butter, Country Crock Spreadable Butter With Canola Oil.

One tablespoon of Shedd’s Country Crock spread has 60 calories, 7 grams of fat and 100 milligrams of sodium. One tablespoon of butter contains 100 calories, 11 grams of fat and 81 milligrams of sodium. The Shedd’s Country Crock product line includes margarine, which was created in 1869 and is used as a butter substitute in baking, cooking and as a spread.
