What Countries Still Have a Dictatorship?

There are many countries still ruled by a dictator today, including North Korea, Cuba, Zimbabwe, and Kazakhstan. Labeling a country as a dictatorship can be difficult as a country almost never self-identifies as such, and there is no universally accepted definition of the term.
Freedom House, an American non-governmental organization (NGO), rates each country based on their citizen’s political rights and civil liberties, and labels them as free, partly free, or not free. Currently, 50 countries as rated as not free, including China, Russia, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. According to their research 36% of the world’s population lives in a country that is not free.
