According to Northcentral University, "cost per credit hour" refers to the amount of tuition charged for each credit the course awards upon completion. To figure the tuition on a class, multiply the cost per credit hour by the number of credits for the course, according to Aims Community College.
Most college courses award three credits. However, some courses are worth only one credit and others are worth six. A credit is generally awarded for each hour of class instruction given in one week. Tuition is not the only cost for a course. Some fees are charged by the credit hour, and some are charged per course. A few fees are charged per semester, according to Northcentral University.
