To cook pasta al dente, boil water and then put in your pasta. Take the pasta out of the water when it has the texture of a fresh stick of gum.

  1. Boil the water

Fill a big pot with 4 to 5 quarts of water. Put salt in the water to season the pasta. Boil the water on the stove.

  2. Add in the pasta

Once the water boils, throw in the dry pasta. Keep stirring the pasta to prevent it from sticking to the sides of the pot or itself.

  3. Remove the pasta

Remove the pasta from the water when it has the texture of a fresh stick of gum. Drain the water from the pasta.
