Continuous prose is a piece of written work with text flowing from one paragraph to the next without subheads. Examples of continuous prose include essays, newspaper articles, journal articles, blog posts and research papers.
The structure of an essay or piece of written work in continuous prose typically includes an introduction with a thesis statement that defines the purpose of the written piece, body paragraphs offering support for the thesis’s main point and examples to illustrate the purpose of the essay, and a conclusion that summarizes the main points of the essay. A works-cited or bibliography page accompanies a piece written in continuous prose when sources and research are used.
