A computer link or hyperlink is a reference to data that is easily accessed by clicking the highlighted text. Writers insert hyperlinks or links in articles and other documents.
When a computer user clicks on a computer link, the link takes the reader to more content, a new Web page, or a different section in the document. The clicked link reveals information or content that validates or relates to the article’s content. In some cases, a computer link can open reveal graphics or direct the reader to another website. Not every computer link works properly; a broken link may direct the reader to content that has been moved or removed from the Web, for example.
