What Are Some Common Dodge Durango Transmission Problems?
Common transmission problems with the Dodge Durango include the automatic transmission shifting roughly, a failure of the transmission to engage, a clunking or banging noise when the transmission shifts and transmission hesitation at certain speeds. These issues have been reported on Dodge Durango vehicles produced from 1998 through 2015.
Many of these issues, including rough shifting, hesitation at speed and the failure of the transmission to engage, are typically traced back to flawed transmission control modules. For several model years, Chrysler has issued a recall on the transmission control module in the Dodge Durango. Clunking or banging in the transmission is reported less frequently and typically results from worn clutches or gears.
