The color black symbolizes many things such power, sexuality, sophistication and formality. These are only just a few of the numerous things the color black can be interpreted to mean.
Throughout different parts of the world colors can represent different things. In the Catholic religion, black symbolizes sin. In literature the color black can mean many different things depending on the context of the writing. It is most often seen as a symbol of death or evil. It can also be associated with fear and the unknown. Even in the art world black can be used just to make the brighter colors at a gallery stand out.
