What Is Cold Soup Called?
Cold soup is commonly referred to as gazpacho and is often tomato-based, although it comes in many variations. These include almond, melon and grape.
Gazpacho is a perfect soup for hot weather because of its chilled and calming taste. In order to make the traditional tomato-based gazpacho, a person will first need to get a blender and some tomatoes. The tomatoes found at farmers’ markets are ideal, particularly those that are bagged at the end of the day. Any tomatoes, however, will do.
Put three parts tomato to one part of the other ingredients in the blender. Other ingredients can include scallions, onions, garlic, peeled cucumbers, seedless watermelon and bell peppers. These ingredients need to be chopped into tiny chunks before they can be placed in the blender. To add additional spice, parsley or cilantro can be added to the soup mixture.
The vegetables should be put in the blender on top of the tomatoes (this is because tomatoes are the juiciest and will help to blend the other ingredients). Now the ingredients can be blended. Next, put the mixture into a large bowl and refrigerate it overnight to give it that signature chilled gazpacho taste. For a thicker consistency and taste, a few small pieces of bread soaked in water can be added to the mixture. Gazpacho is often served with olive oil, finely diced vegetables, dollops of pesto, croutons, crab meat or shrimp.
