The types of clothing that Muslims wear can vary from country to country or even from person to person in some areas. Muslims usually adopt a modest dress code with with very little skin showing, if any at all in some regions.

A common clothing article worn by Muslim men is the thobe, an ankle-length robe. The top of a thobe is tailored like a shirt for ease of movement. The hijab, which is actually a folded piece of square or rectangular fabric, is a typical form of modest women’s dress that folds over the woman’s head. An abaya is a garment worn over a woman’s clothes when she leaves the house. A burqa is a thin veil that covers a woman’s entire body, including her eyes.
