How Do You Clean a London Fog Coat?

London Fog recommends either dry cleaning or machine washing most of its trench coats in cold water at home. Dry cleaning is generally the preferred option to keep your coat in its best shape, but it can be expensive. You can get satisfactory results washing the coat at home if you follow the care label instructions explicitly. The London Fog company has a variety of coats that require different methods to clean them, but the company is most famous for its popular trench coats.

  1. Pretreat any stains on the coat

    Check the London Fog trench coat for any significant stains, and spray the area with a stain remover spray. Or, dab on a little detergent, and rub gently into the stain. Let it sit for a few minutes before washing.

  2. Set your washer to cold and delicate

    Place your London Fog trench coat in the washing machine on the cold water setting. Use the delicate cycle if you have that option on your machine.

  3. Tumble dry on low

    Remove the London Fog trench coat from the washing machine when the cycle is completed, and place it in the dryer. Set the dryer to a low tumble dry. If your coat is not fully dry after the cycle, lay it out on a clothesline or flat surface in sunlight to finish drying.
