A citizenship award is given to students who exemplify superior honor and discipline within the classroom environment. According to the National Association of Elementary School Principals, this award has several qualifications that students need to satisfy in order to receive it.
Some of the qualifications are participating in community service, having a positive attitude in and out of the classroom environment and helping others promote what it means to be a leader. Giving students awards such as this one motivates them to spread their courage to others. These awards are given out to students once per year from all over the country.
