What Are Some Christmas Party Games for Seniors?

One Christmas party activity for seniors is the “reindeer antler game.” Divide the group into teams of two to four people. Give each group a pair of pantyhose and eight balloons. At the word “Go,” each team must create a pair of reindeer antlers by blowing up all eight balloons and stuffing them into the pantyhose.

When the antlers are completed, one team member puts them on his head and sings “Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” The first team to finish one verse is the winner.

Another fun game for seniors is “guess the Christmas cookie.” Bake or buy several different kinds of cookies, such as chocolate chip, sugar, Snicker Doodles and oatmeal. Place one cookie in a paper bag. Each senior then sniffs the cookie without seeing it and writes down the kind of cookie he thinks is in the bag. The person with the most correct guesses wins all the cookies.

Seniors who have difficulty participating in active games may enjoy a game called “hugs and kisses.” Buy one bag each of Hershey’s Hugs and Kisses. Count out an equal number of both, and place them in a decorated plastic jar. Have seniors write on squares of colored paper their guesses of how many chocolates are in the jar. The closest guess wins the Hugs and Kisses.
