How Do You Check Your SSN Status Online?

To check your Social Security Number application status online, go to SocialSecurity.gov and click on the Online Services button. The Online Services button is located in the lower right portion of the Web page. Then, login to the online portal using your username and password or create a new account. To create an online account, you must provide your full name, date of birth and current Social Security Number.

If you do not want to create an online account, click the Benefits link in the top menu and select the Check Application Status link. Then, enter the application confirmation number and your Social Security Number and click the Next button. Fill out all required fields and follow the prompts accordingly. Alternatively, call the support phone number displayed on your original application. You can check the status of your application three days after submitting the form.
