A chase wall is a wall that is built to hide plumbing or other duct work. Chase walls are often added when home remodeling projects require new plumbing routes or vents.
Chase walls are built from wallboard or paneling and are installed to match the look of the rest of the walls in the area. A properly installed chase wall is indistinguishable from an original wall.
In contrast to a chase wall, a wall chase is a groove or larger indentation cut into a brick or concrete wall to hold pipes or wiring. Wall chases serve a similar purpose to chase walls and are often installed during remodeling projects.
