What Are Characteristics of a Good Constitution?
Although there are differences in opinion about what qualities should be utilized in making a constitution, a few factors should be present including strict yet flexible rules, clearly defined laws and rights of the governed people. By definition, a constitution is an article that determines how a government should function. It includes principles and laws to ensure the rights and safety of the people.
Although the rules in a constitution need to be clearly stated, they should also be flexible and allow for amendments to be made when necessary as time goes on. In addition, the individual rights of the people need to be clearly noted in the constitution.
Constitutions were created to provide guidelines for rule while allowing the citizens to have rights. Without those rights, it would not be a good constitution.
