What Channels Are Included in Basic DirecTV Packages?

As of 2015, DirecTV’s basic package features 130 channels, including A&E, CMT, Cartoon Network, FX and MTV in both HD and standard definition. Local channels are included in all of DirecTV’s packages.

DirecTV’s basic channel package, called Select, has a regular cost of $30 per month and includes three months of premium subscriptions to HBO, SHOWTIME, STARZ and Cinemax channels. The Select package also includes a Genie HD DVR upgrade.

The Entertainment package provides 140 HD and standard definition channels as well as all of the features included with the Select subscription. Channels that are part of the Entertainment package but not the Select package include ESPN and Fox Sports 1 networks. The Entertainment package has a regular subscription price of $35 per month.

Choice is the next tier above Entertainment, and it includes 150 channels plus all of the features included in the Entertainment and Select packages. DirecTV offers NFL Sunday Ticket with a Choice subscription, which gives the subscriber access to every NFL game of the season and the NFL Red Zone channel. The Choice package has a regular subscription price $40 per month.

XTRA is a package contains 205 channels, including some, such as NatGeo Wild, Oxygen and NBC Sports, not available on Choice, Entertainment or Select packages. XTRA has a regular subscription price of $45 per month.
