Which Candy Has Pork in It?

Ferrara, the parent company of Brach’s, Lemonheads, JujyFruits, Chuckles and Red Hots, discloses that it uses gelatin made from pork products in its candies. Gelatin is used to make candy chewy and give jelly-based candies their smooth, wobbly texture.

Gelatin is derived from pork or cows, but a candy that includes gelatin as an ingredient does not necessarily contain pork or beef. Some kosher gelatins are manufactured from fish. The ingredients list should indicate which type of gelatin was used during the manufacturing process. If it doesn’t, it may be necessary to contact the company directly to obtain this information.
