There is no candy bar that is truly named after a famous author. Many trivia or party game quizzes list the Nestle Oh Henry bar as being named after the famous author O. Henry, but that is not a fact according to Nestle.
It is a common assumption that the Oh Henry bar, introduced in 1920 by the Williamson Company of Chicago, Ill., is named after the famous short story author O. Henry, who died in 1910. However, the Nestle story contends that the bar’s name comes from a young man named Henry who frequented the shop and flirted with the women employees. The women often got Henry to run errands, and it became common to hear them shouting “Oh Henry” to ask favors of him, sparking Williamson to name his new creation the Oh Henry bar.
