The United States Military Academy at West Point was founded in 1802 and is a four-year United States service academy that grants a Bachelor of Science degree. West Point evaluates the candidates on three basic pillars of performance: military, physical and academic. Participation in organized athletics is mandatory, and cadets participate in a sport every fall, winter and spring season. Following graduation, cadets are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army.
