How Can You Verify an Alien’s Registration Number in the United States?
To verify an alien’s registration number in the United States, examine the registration card, confirm its security features, locate the registration number, and enter the number into the U.S. E-Verify system. This process takes about five minutes and requires an E-Verify database account.
-
Examine the registration card
Check the expiration date on the registration card, and verify its security features. Cards issued after 2004 up to 2014 are green with a hologram on the front and the registration number printed on the back of the card. Cards issued between 1997 and 2004 lack holograms and have the registration number printed on the bottom of the front side. Cards issued prior to 1997 are peach-colored and lack a registration number entirely.
-
Enter the registration number
Enter the 13-digit registration number into the U.S. E-Verify website. This number consists of three letters followed by 10 numbers. For registration cards issued after 2004, enter the last 13 characters on the first printed line on the back of the card. Cards issued between 1997 and 2004 have three lines of alphanumeric characters printed at the bottom of the front side. Enter the last 13 characters on the first of those lines. If the card was issued prior to 1997, enter “AAA0000000000” as the registration number.
