In most cases, a cast-iron skillet can be used on a glass cook-top as long as precautions are taken to prevent damage to the cooking surface. Cast-iron skillets that are safe for glass-top stoves are heavy, able to tolerate heat, and flat and even on the bottom.
To prevent dropping the cast-iron skillet and breaking the glass-top, the cook should wear oven mitts when touching the handle of the pan. To protect against scratches, the cast-iron skillet should be picked up and moved, rather than being slid across the surface. Additionally, the bottom of the skillet must be kept clean to prevent stains from forming on the cook-top.
