How Can I Shrink a Football Jersey?

To shrink a polyester football jersey, simply wash and dry the jersey until it shrinks to the desired fit. Since you are not washing the jersey clean it, there is no need to add detergent before putting it in the washer.
-
Wash the jersey
Since polyester is such a difficult material to shrink, it has to be washed at the highest temperature possible. Make sure that you turn the jersey inside out before you wash it so that the color does not fade. Allow the jersey to go through the entire wash cycle after you select the highest setting.
-
Dry the jersey
You should also dry the jersey on the hottest setting possible. Make sure that you transfer your jersey from the washer to the dryer as quickly as possible to ensure maximum shrinkage. Allow the jersey to remain in the dryer until it dries completely.
-
Repeat until the jersey is at the desired size
You may have to wash and dry your jersey several times before it fits as you desire. In most cases, it takes anywhere from two to three washes before the process is complete. Try the jersey on before you wash it again to check if it is the right fit.
