Can You Renew Your SNAP Benefits Online?
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, known as SNAP, benefits can be renewed or applied for online for 41 different states, notes the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The list of states and links to apply in each state can be reached directly through USDA.gov.
Applicants can contact local social services offices, that process SNAP application, to request a paper form, if their state does not offer online applications or renewal. The U.S. Federal Food Stamp Program officially changed it’s name to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, called SNAP, in October of 2008. All states and territories of the United States have implemented the Electronic Benefit Transfer or EBT card, as of June 2004. It allows distribution and use of benefits through a magnetically-encoded payment card.
