As of 2015, a TV series based on Jacqueline Winspear's Maisie Dobbs books has not been produced. Speculation about an eventual television adaptation is primarily due to the popularity of the novels and the success of ITV's show "Downton Abbey," which bears some similarities to the Maisie Dobbs series.
"Maisie Dobbs," the first novel in the series, was released to critical acclaim in 2003. The series features the title character, a female detective in England following World War I, as she starts her own detective agency. As of 2015, the series contains 11 novels, with the most recent, "A Dangerous Place," released in March 2015.
