How Can You Make a Sea Salt Solution to Clean Piercings?
To make a sea salt solution, mix a 0.9 percent solution of salt and water. Add 1/8 teaspoon of salt to 1 cup of water and mix thoroughly.
- Prepare your supplies
Wash and dry your hands carefully. Gather sea salt, a clean bowl, a measuring cup, a measuring spoon and a longer spoon for mixing. Choose a bowl that allows easy access; you can either dip your piercing in the bowl or soak a cotton ball in the solution and press it against the piercing. It is often convenient to mix your solution near where you plan to use it.
- Heat the water
Run the water until it is just hot enough to be uncomfortable to the touch; doing so gives the water time to cool slightly while you prepare and use your solution. If your tap water is not hot enough, heat the water in the microwave using a microwave-safe dish. Dip your measuring cup under the running water. and measure 1/2 cup.
- Mix solution
Measure 1/8 teaspoon of salt into your bowl. Add the water and mix the sea salt wash thoroughly. If you need a larger volume of solution, use 1/4 teaspoon of salt and 1 cup of water. Ensure that the salt is dissolved completely.
