To make a moist heat pad, fill a sock or cloth glove with 4 to 5 cups of uncooked rice, oatmeal or quinoa. Sew the opening closed with a needle and thread, or tie it closed to prevent spills. Microwave the filled container for two to four minutes.
It is important to remove the heat pad from the microwave with caution, as it is very hot. Apply the moist heat pack to the area in need of relief.
Moist heat packs can provide relief to aching or sore muscles. Although they are available in stores, they can also be made with everyday household items to prevent a trip to the store and save some money.
