Can You Iron Polyester?
Last Updated Mar 25, 2020 10:01:35 PM ET

It is possible to iron polyester fabric as long as the iron's temperature setting is not too high. The ideal temperature for ironing polyester is around 300 degrees Fahrenheit. This is equivalent to a medium to a medium-low heat setting.
Polyester is a synthetic fiber used in clothing, table linens, curtains and bedding. A major advantage of polyester is that it requires minimal care. Items made from this fabric are able to be machine washed and dried, and they often need little to no ironing. Using hot water to wash polyester sometimes causes deep wrinkling in the fabric, and high temperatures during drying or ironing sometimes cause the garment to melt or shrink.
