The DMV vision test can be taken while wearing contact lenses. During the test, participants are not asked to remove their contacts, but they are required to let the test giver know that they are wearing contacts so that their license can be restricted to corrective lenses.
All applicants for a learner’s permit, a new driver’s license or a license renewal must take a vision test to see if they meet certain vision standards. Those that must wear corrective lenses to meet these standards must wear them every time they drive a vehicle. Those that fail to wear their corrective lenses while driving face the same penalties as people who drive without a valid driver’s license.
