As of April 2013, Hotmail users must log into their email accounts through Microsoft’s upgraded email service, Outlook.com. Typing Hotmail.com into a Web browser now automatically forwards a user to the new Outlook.com login interface.
All Hotmail.com email addresses and associated passwords remain valid unless the user chooses to log in and delete the account manually. Although the new service has a redesigned user interface, all former Hotmail.com users continue to have full access to their stored data, including saved email, archived photos and contact lists. Users have the option to switch over to a new Outlook.com email address, or they can opt to stick with the Hotmail.com address.
