How Do You Calculate the Capacity of a Washer in Cubic Feet?
Last Updated Apr 1, 2020 8:16:52 PM ET
Calculating the capacity of a washer in cubic feet requires a tape measure and a calculator. Switch off the washer and remove any laundry before taking the measurements.
Measure the radius of the tub if the center point is identifiable. Otherwise, measure the diameter by placing the tape measure at a point on the side of the tub and drawing it across to the point directly opposite. Divide this measurement by two to obtain the radius. Multiply the radius by itself; if the radius is 9 inches, multiply 9 by 9. Multiply this figure by 3.14.
Measure the depth of the tub, and multiply the value received in the previous step by the depth measurement. This value is the capacity of the tub in cubic feet.
