How Do You Bypass the Lid Switch on a Front Loading Whirlpool Washer?
Bypassing a lid switch on a front loader involves a few steps, and safety precautions must be made beforehand, according to Part Select. The door switch on a front loading washing machine must be engaged for the washer to start, and the locking mechanism must be activated.
After it is determined that the door locking mechanisms are intact and that the door is able to stay shut, the next thing to do is make sure that the lid switch has continuity, which can be tested with a multimeter, notes Part Select. In order to bypass a door switch on a front loader when diagnosing electrical problems, the power must be disconnected, and the front panel must be removed. If the switch does not have continuity, then it must be replaced.
The whole cabinet of the washer may have to be taken off in order to get access to the whole door switch mechanism in order to remove it, as Networx notes. Individuals must remove the screws, take out the door switch assembly and remove the grounding wire. Then, they must replace the new door switch by retracing all the steps working backward, putting the cabinet back on and then plugging the washer in to test it.
