How Do I Brighten My Computer Screen?

Depending on what type of computer you have, there are several ways to brighten or dim your computer screen. On both Windows and Mac computers there are usually brightness controls located in the row of keys near the top of the keyboard labeled F1 through F12. You can also adjust the computer screen’s brightness in the settings.
If you are using a Mac OS X, you can make the screen brighter by navigating to the System Preferences and selecting the Display Panel. From there you will be able to select how bright or dim you would like your screen to be. You are also able to use the F1 and F2 keys to adjust the brightness. Additionally, holding down the Option and Shift keys while you use F1 and F2 to adjust the brightness setting allows you to adjust the brightness setting with more precision. Holding down these keys allows you to choose from 64 brightness settings instead of the standard 16.
If you are using Windows 10, you will be able to locate the brightness setting by selecting the battery icon in the notification area, and then selecting the brightness icon that will appear. Most Windows computers also have the option to make the screen brighter or darker using the keyboard as well. In order to do this, look for an icon on the keyboard that resembles a light bulb or sun.
