What Are Some Brands of Wines Without Sulfites?

Some brands of wine that do not contain sulfites include Frey Vineyards Natural Red NV and Cascina Degli Ulivi Filagnotti, according to Food Republic. As of 2015, other brands of sulfite-free wine include Marcel Lapierre and Stellar Organics. Stellar Organics is a fair trade company from South Africa that makes the best selling organic wine in the United Kingdom. Many of Pierre Frick’s wines are free of sulfites, as are Terre des Chardons wines.

Frey Vineyards is a brand known for its organic wines and has been making wine free of sulfites for 30 years. Frey Vineyards is known for making a variety of different sulfite free wines including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. The maker of Cascina Degli Ulivi Filagnotti, which is a fruity white wine, is also known for making only organic and biodynamic wines.

During the wine fermentation process, there is a release of sulfur dioxide. In addition, wine makers often add sulfur to wine to prevent spoiling. It may be possible that sulfites cause headaches, but there is no scientific data to support this claim, as of 2015. Bottles of wine sold in the United States containing sulfites must feature this information on an attached label.
