What Does “Beulah Land” Refer to in the Bible?

The Biblical reference to “Beulah Land” is used as symbolism for Israel. Once a desolate and barren land, the Lord commanded future prosperity of Israel by naming the land Beulah.

The name Beulah means “to be married.” Isaiah 62:4 tells of the union between the Israeli people and their land. In a place that was forsaken and void of life, the Lord delighted in the marriage of the people with the land. With a promised future in sight for the people of Beulah Land, the land and the people became fertile once again. The Lord’s blessing fully restored Israel and for that reason, it is called Beulah Land.
