The best way to become a batboy is to know someone who works inside the club who will offer a solid recommendation. The waiting list for batboy positions is long, but hopefuls should still contact the team and submit applications.
The batboy position requires a lot of exertion and can be dangerous, so the MLB requires batboys to be at least 14 years old, although some teams require older ages, and maintain good physical condition. The teams review the applications submitted, so be patient through the off-season. Those who pass the first stage will be invited in for an interview. Go into the meeting confident, competent and willing to accept all the responsibilities that the position entails.
