The average weight of a regulation pool table is between 650 and 900 pounds, depending on the size and model. The weight is contingent upon a variety of features, such as cushions, table frame, type of cloth and pockets.
A pool table’s weight is relative to the hardware and materials that go into its design. Most of a table’s weight is contained in its slate bed playing surface. Smaller tables generally use one or two pieces of slate, while larger, tournament-sized tables typically use three.
Tables that are designed for the home market are known to have thinner, lighter slate beds. Some inexpensive recreational pool tables use non-slate playing surfaces, like plastic sheets layered over particle board.
