What Is the Average Weight of a Golf Club?
Last Updated Mar 26, 2020 8:49:12 PM ET
The average driver used by professional golfers weighs about approximately 0.73 pounds, according to Golf Digest. The average commercial driver available on the market weighs about 0.68 to 0.69 pounds.
Swing weight, however, is different from a golf club's actual weight. Swing weight denotes how weight is distributed throughout the club. In a 14-inch scale method, swing weight is calculated by dividing the distance between the grip end and the balance point on a golf club (minus 14 inches) by the club's total weight, according to Purely Golf. Instruments called swing weight scales can be purchased to assist in making precise calculations.
