There is no determined average jogging speed of a human; however, in approximate terms, the speed is considered to be slower than 6 miles per hour but slightly faster than 4 miles per hour. Jogging differs from running because people customarily jog at a slower pace.
Jogging speed can be affected by a runner not using proper form. Things that can affect jogging speed include bouncing too much, taking longer strides, jogging more slowly than walking, not using the arms and bending the head and upper body forward too much. A jogger should not jog at walking speed, but should also not attempt to run at speeds beyond what he or she is capable of.
