The age at which seniors can get a free fishing license varies by state, according to the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation. Many states offer discounted hunting or fishing license fees for senior citizens, including Arizona, Colorado, Michigan, North Carolina and South Carolina.
States have varied requirements for free senior fishing licenses, states the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation. The qualifying age ranges from 60 to 70, and some states also require the senior citizen to have other qualifications. In Arizona, for example, the citizen must be 70 years old and have 25 years of consecutive residency to qualify for a free fishing license.
