What Age Group Uses the Internet the Most?

According to Marketing Charts, the 18- to 44-year-old age group uses the Internet the most, boasting more than half of the United States' online population. Email is the most popular online activity, surpassing instant messaging, social networking and blogging.
The 18- to 32-year-old age group is the most likely to use the Internet for entertainment purposes, such as browsing YouTube, playing online games, engaging in virtual communities and listening to music. For online shopping and online banking, the 33- to 44-year-old age group contributes the most usage. Those above age 73 are more likely to browse the Internet for research purposes than anything else, particularly about issues relating to health.
