How Do You Adjust a Square D Well Pressure Switch?

Adjust a Square D well pressure switch by turning it clockwise to raise the pressure and counter-clockwise to decrease the pressure. Prior to adjusting the switch, follow safety precautions and look for any faults in the switch components. Adjusting the Square D well pressure switch increases the water pressure through the entire house.

  1. Turn off power to the switch

As a safety precaution, turn off or disconnect power to the switch prior to manipulating it. You can turn off the power at the circuit breaker.

  2. Check the wire ports’ seal

Ensure that the seal on the wire ports is secure and the area is clean. Dirt and dead bugs can disrupt power to the switch.

  3. Check for loose and broken wires

Over time, the wires can break or loosen, harming the switch’s functionality. Look for any wiring problems.

  4. Check the points

The points, which are small, round discs, should be an unstained silver or copper. Points with discolorations or marks indicate a cycling problem with the pump.

  5. Turn the spring to adjust the Square D well pressure switch

Looking at the pressure, locate the large spring in the center. Turn the spring clockwise to increase the cut-off and cut-in pressure. Turn the spring counter-clockwise to lower the cut-off and cut-in pressure.
